Jorge has a small workshop on the outskirts of Porto, in the North of Portugal, which supports thirteen local villagers. The workshop is actually the ground floor of his Aunt Luzia’s house situated on a small and beautiful plot of land with chickens, rabbits, a kitchen garden, horses and some seriously lush grapes for winemaking.
Jorge and his team have been producing our first shoe made outside of China, called Joe, which is available in a limited number John Lewis stores and Terra Plana.
He’s also been making samples for Worn Again’s Spring Summer ’09 collection which has taken a lot of dedication and goodwill to get it right. It’s not easy for small workshops such as Jorge’s to spend a lot of time on development and demands from us fickle Brits.
Jorge has been very supportive of what we’re trying to achieve with Worn Again and understands our mission. We’d like to bring him and his employees much more work – they are great craftspeople! So look out for the new designs soon – you can join the mailing list for the latest news.
