Maria is our Portugese Wonder Woman! She does it all, from liaising with factories to climbing scrap heaps for that perfect golden recycled car seat belt. She not only collects many of the materials that go into Worn Again products personally, but she spends half her time cleaning them at home too.
Maria lives with her husband and two small children in Reguenga, a tiny village where she grew up, with a population of 500 people. When she was younger, she wanted to be a journalist, but her parents wouldn’t allow her to go away to Lisbon for college. Instead she studied locally and graduated with a secretarial degree.
But the call of fashion was just too strong. Maria has been in the footwear industry for 20 years and has worked for Aline which produced for Shelleys, Marks and Spencers, Office and other well known retailers.
We’re very proud to be working with Maria. She is fantastic at what she does and has been extremely patient and supportive of our endeavour to reinvigorate the footwear and accessories industry in Europe, one seat belt at a time.
